RtF is seeking enthusiastic leaders and innovative thinkers to join our College Action Network!
Chapter Leaders are the front-line youth leaders, promoting social issue by screening the most important social issue documentary films at colleges across the country.
We depend on campus chapter leaders to organize and host a local screening twice per semester, in conjunction with other RtF chapters across the country. This creates a national moment on each social issue via these simultaneous college screenings, which are usually followed by panel discussions, and which give student the means to REACT to the important social issues of today and make collective VOICE heard locally and nationally! REACT to FILM occasionally uses livestream technology to connect multiple colleges in the network for interactive video Q&As with the film director or producer.
As a Chapter Leader, you'll gain invaluable insight into how a new and successful technology/media startup is built, as well as have a direct impact on marketing and growing footprint and impact of a national nonprofit aiming to empower America's youth.
We'll provide a structured program with plenty of guidance and opportunities for professional development, and expect you to bring your creativity, passion, and initiative to the table in order to succeed.
The REACT to FILM College Action Network aims to expose, engage, and inspire young people around critical social issues. Launched in the fall of 2011, the College Action Network has grown to roughly 50 campuses nationwide this school year. At campuses where we already have a chapter running, we are accepting applications for students who would like to be co-leaders. For campuses where we do not yet have a chapter, you could spearhead one as a leader!
College Action Network Chapter Leaders are responsible for planning screening events featuring REACT to FILM’s social issue based documentaries 2 times per semester, or 4 times per academic school year.
In the 2011-2012 academic year, we screened Hell and Back Again, Miss Representation, The Last Mountain, Sing Your Song, The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom, and Living for 32.
In the 2012-2013 school year we screened Escape Fire: The Fight to Rescue American Healthcare, The Invisible War, Electoral Dysfunction, The Interrupters, Let Fury Have the Hour, and Searching for Sugar Man.
In the 2013-2014 school year, RtF screened Blood Brother, How to Make Money Selling Drugs, Who Is Dayani Cristal?, and The Crash Reel.
Applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis.
• Creating or maintaining status as a recognized student-run organization or affiliate of a partner org
• Participation in video chats and/or leadership training conferences
• Partnering with campus offices, student clubs, Greek-life, sports teams, and other strategic outlets
• Securing venues and screening times
• Building panels of experts on the issue highlighted in each documentary
• Actively promoting and attracting press coverage
• Drawing students from multidisciplinary backgrounds
• Inviting professors and faculty members to attend
• Utilizing social media to create a buzz around the film and issue
• Finding someone to take photos and video clips at the event
• Sophomore or higher; full-time student
• Heavily involved in campus life with the ability to engage peers and community
• Social media power-user with an active presence on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
• Socially aware & interested in social change
• Entrepreneurial spirit - you're a natural-born innovator that can work independently and with minimum direction
• Willingness to commit a min. of 10 hrs. per wk; more around event dates
• Ideal candidate will be a leader for 2 semesters or longer
• Hands-on experience working with one of the nation's coolest and fastest-growing tech/media, educational nonprofit startups
• Growth potential at RtF including intern or part or full-time opportunities
• Ability to connect with like-minded students at campuses throughout the country
• Regular incentives and prizes to award chapter leaders with the most creative and proactive approaches.

- Social media and web experience
- Possible to receive college credit.
- Opportunity to apply for a subsidized trip or full scholarship to NYC for REACT to FILM's Annual Leadership Conference.
- Successful leaders will also be offered letters of recommendation and networking opportunities in the career field of their choice.
