An initiative launched at the 2011 World Economic Forum Summit in Dalian, and implemented in partnership with Secretary Clinton’s International Council on Women’s Business Leadership (U.S. Department of State), WomenUp aims to increase women's role in the global economy by providing leadership training, mentorship and support to girls and women through every stage of their lives and careers. 

At the heart of our work is a movement to redefine leadership: helping girls and women recast their classically ‘feminine’ traits and skills as major assets and strengths in the workplace and as leaders. At the same time, we engage men to incorporate more of these qualities into their leadership style…and consider not just how they can ‘man up,’ but also ‘woman up’ when the situation calls for more adaptive, collaborative leadership.

Through programs that begin with 7^th and 8^th grade girls, and reach up to women on boards and elected officials, WomenUp provides leadership training, mentoring and networking opportunities, and business skills development. 

NFTE is viewed as a world leader in promoting entrepreneurial literacy among youth. When young people participate in our programs they begin to unlock their unique entrepreneurial creativity, have a greater understanding of the free enterprise system, improve the quality of their lives, and dare to dream for bright futures. To date, NFTE has worked with more than 500,000 young people in programs across the United States and around the world.

To achieve its mission, NFTE:

• Creates innovative, experiential criteria
• Partners with universities, schools and community-based organizations
• Provides professional development training and ongoing support to teachers & youth work professionals
• Offers ongoing alumni services

Young women who will enter 7^th or 8^th grades in the 2013-2014 school year are eligible to apply.

All applicants should carefully review the following dates and information to ensure that they are willing and able to attend ALL BizCamp sessions.

Dates: (July 8-19 2013) Monday-Friday sessions meet 9:00 AM- 5:00 PM

Location: Boston Metro Area, specific location details will be sent to you with the acceptance letter.

Cost per student for the Girl Empower: The NFTE Summer BizCamp Experience is a free program based on a competitive application process. 

Only complete applications will be reviewed. Applicants will be chosen based on complete well-thought answers to short answer and essay questions and include the following: community involvement, demonstrated interest in entrepreneurship or related fields and ability to overcome challenges. There is a limited amount of space for this program, so please take your time and thoroughly review the application. 

The application consists of:

4.    Recommendation (optional but highly preferred)

Recommendations provide an opportunity for the NFTE Admissions Staff to gain additional information about a student’s performance in a school or extra-curricular setting. Your recommender should be an adult who knows you in a professional, academic, or volunteer context and can relate specific and relevant details about your performance, skills, and unique abilities (i.e., a teacher, coach, program administrator, employer, or other adult). Relatives may not provide a recommendation.

Upon receiving your application materials, your application will be carefully reviewed. Students will be notified of their application status within one month of the application deadline.
