Eligibility

 

To be eligible for any of the Swim Alberta Awards from the previous year’s performances, all coaches must have represented a Swim Alberta program and have been a member in good standing during the previous season.


All nomination-based awards will have a deadline of August 15 and will be open to nomination throughout the year.

 

The ATPC may put forward names to fill the field of eligible candidates.


You will be required to upload a photo and biography of your nominee.




Outlying Community Coach of the Year

Criteria:       Club in communities outside of Calgary or Edmonton (the two main urban centers) 

Program Development and/or Growth 

Performances of swimmers

Number of National, National Age Group, and Provincial Records

Team ranking and/or provincial titles

Team Selections or Awards

Selection:     Alberta Technical Program Committee (ATPC) will review and make a selection/recommendation to the Swim Alberta Awards Committee.  Any member of the ATPC that has been nominated for an award must excuse himself or herself from the selection process. 







Provincial Age Group Coach of the Year

Criteria:      Swimmers at Age Group Provincials

Performances of Swimmers

Provincial Records

Team ranking and/or provincial titles

Selection:   Alberta Technical Program Committee (ATPC) will review and make a selection/recommendation to the Swim Alberta Awards Committee.  Any member of the ATPC that has been nominated for an award must excuse himself or herself from the selection process. 







National Age Group Coach of the Year

Criteria:

Swimmers aged 18 & under

Performances of swimmers

Number of National, National Age Group, and Provincial Records

National or Provincial Titles (or team ranking)

Team Selections or Awards

Individual and/or Team Performances at Canadian Junior Championships


Selection:  Alberta Technical Program Committee (ATPC) will review and make a selection/recommendation to the Swim Alberta Awards Committee.  Any member of the ATPC that has been nominated for an award must excuse himself or herself from the selection process.








Larry Nielson Memorial Award - Outstanding Contribution to Coaching

Criteria:          This award annually recognizes the significant contributions that a coach has made to coaching, athlete development or club development over several years.  The award will only be awarded once to a coach throughout their coaching career. 

Selection:      This award will be determined by the Alberta Technical Program Committee (ATPC) from letters of nomination received from the Swim Alberta membership.  The ATPC may put names forward for nomination in order to fill the field of eligible candidates.  The ATPC executive will vote on the winner of this award.
