Gross or large motor skills involve the movement of a child’s arms, legs, and whole body. Activities such as walking, running, jumping, crawling, or any other actions that develop the larger muscles of the body are classified as gross motor skills. It is critical that educators monitor and develop gross motor skills with students to ensure that they are developmentally on track. Most children are extremely interested in playing games and sports that practice these skills.
