STATE TRADE AND EXPORT PROMOTION (STEP) MATCHING GRANTS

As part of this application, eligible small businesses that produce and export a product will be considered to receive a maximum $2,250 matching grant award to offset airfare (Fly America provisions apply), and other qualifying travel expenses associated with participation on State sponsored, or U.S. Department of Commerce sponsored, trade missions and trade shows that occur before September 30, 2013. Each matching grant award requires a 25% cash match by the recipient up to $750.

Matching grants are awarded to qualifying small businesses on a first come - first served basis. Applications will be accepted until the trade mission matching grant application deadline posted, or until the matching grant funds budgeted, for the various Trade Missions, are expended, whichever comes first. Preference will be given to those companies that demonstrate a financial need.

State Trade and Export Promotion (STEP) matching grants are funded in part through a grant award with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

As part of the trade mission, the International Trade and Diplomacy Office publishes a Participant Journal.  Copies of the Participant Journal are distributed in-country at trade mission meetings, events, receptions, dinners, etc. Each participant is required to submit a personal biography, personal studio portrait, company logo, and brief company description to be used in the Participant Journal. Spouses and guests, who are traveling on the trade mission, may choose to waive these requirements. If spouses and guests are traveling together representing different companies, then we request that separate applications be submitted for each company. Select the blue link below at the bottom to add materials for an additional participant.

You may download this copy of a past Participant Journal to gain a better understanding of the materials you are required to submit.

If you need assistance obtaining these items, we recommend contacting your marketing department and they will be able to help you find each of the items in the proper format and size.  It is especially important to submit studio portraits that are at least 300 DPI resolution in JPG format.  Likewise, company logos need to be submitted as EPS or Adobe Illustrator files. Images and logos saved from standard websites and Facebook are lower resolution and will not print with clarity.
