Universal precautions are necessary throughout the child care facility to ensure that the disease is not transmitted.  To prevent infection with HIV, take special care when dealing with open wounds, breast milk, and blood. Specific precautions for avoiding infection with HIV Include:
•    Covering wounds on children and adults
•    Immediately washing skin on which breast milk has spilled
•    Using good hand washing procedures for children and adults
•    Wearing gloves when cleaning up blood spills
