ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

NVCA is open by invitation to all professional venture capital, private equity and corporate investors who are responsible for investing risk equity capital in entrepreneurial companies or emerging technologies on a professional basis, and meet the criteria outlined below: 
  • The applicant must be actively engaged in private equity investing on a cash for equity basis, must be investing from a dedicated pool of private equity capital of at least $5 million or, in the case of a corporate investor, some similar arrangement(i.e. investing off of the balance sheet).
  • The applicant's business must be operated out of an office located in the United States and must be seeking investment opportunities in the U.S.
  • The applicant's business managers must be U.S. citizens or resident aliens.
  • The applicant's business must be subject to U.S. taxation and laws.
  • The applicant must employ a professional staff of at least one full-time employee, or full time equivalent, whose sole purpose is direct private equity investing or through VC fund-of-funds
  • The applicant must utilize a professional approach before and after an investment is made, including the maintenance of a continued interest in the companies they sponsor. 
  • Renewal of Annual Membership in the NVCA is subject to review and approval by the NVCA along with continued compliance of the criteria stated above. 


ADMISSION PROCEDURES

    1. Complete membership application in full and return it to NVCA along with materials that describes your firm's investment activities (e.g. marketing brochure, firm prospectus, etc.) along with references from two current NVCA members who are familiar with your firm's activities (a member list can be found at NVCA's website at www.NVCA.org)
    2. Once all information is received, applications will be reviewed immediately by the NVCA Membership Committee.
    3. Notification of approval will be sent in writing along with an invoice for membership dues. 
    • Complete the application in full and submit it to NVCA along with: 
      • Two NVCA member references who are familiar with the firm's investment activities. 
      • Supporting documents describing the firm's investment activities. 
    • All applications will be reviewed immediately by NVCA upon receipt. 
    • Notification of membership approval will be sent in writing along with an invoice for dues, which is payable upon receipt. 

     NVCA DUES STRUCTURE


    Capital Under Management is defined as all funds raised less any fully liquidated funds. Membership dues for SBICs are calculated based on private capital raised. Corporate venture capitalists investing off the balance sheet pay an annual flat fee of $7,500.
