General Information
AACE International recognizes its award winners at its Annual Meeting.  It is through such outstanding ability, service, and dedication displayed by our members that AACE International is able to continue to be the strong organization that it is. 

An individual should not complete their own application - or be involved in an application being completed on their behalf.

No current member of the AACE International Board of Directors is eligible to receive this award. 

Applications must be submitted by April 1 for consideration for the current year.  Any applications received after April 1 will be considered for the subsequent year.

Award Descriptions

Award of Merit: The Award of Merit is given for outstanding contribution or service to the total cost management or cost engineering profession as a whole.  It is the second highest award AACE bestows on an individual.


Charles V. Keane Distinguished Service Award: The Charles V. Keane Distinguished Service Award is given to recognize an individual’s outstanding service to their local AACE Section over an extended period of time.  Membership in AACE is required.


Honorary Life Membership: Honorary Life Membership is given upon the unanimous approval of the AACE International Board of Directors to those individuals who have served the Association on the local and international levels in a variety of capacities.  Minimum requirements are: Membership in AACE for fifteen (15) or more consecutive years.  Active participation and distinguished service in two (2) or more of the following functions: a.) Served on the AACE International Board of Directors; b.) Served as a member of an Associate Board, task force, standing, and/or ad hoc committee; c.) Presented two (2) or more technical papers at the Annual Meeting, ITCM Conference, Section meetings, AACE seminars, or to other professional societies; or d.) Engaged as a full-or part-time instructor teaching in total cost management subject areas.  Preference will be given to individuals who have already earned the membership status of AACE Fellow.


Industrial Appreciation Award: The Industrial Appreciation Award is presented to a company or organization that have rendered exceptional support to the total cost management or cost engineering profession and to AACE International’s aims and objectives.  This is the highest award AACE bestows on a company/organization.


Lifetime Achievement Award: The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to individuals who have served the Association on multiple occasions in a variety of capacities.  Minimum requirements are: a.) Membership in AACE International; b.) previous service to AACE as a member of the Board of Directors or an Associate Board; c.) previously been recognized having received any of the following: Award of Merit, Brian D. Dunfield Educational Service Award, Charles V. Keane Distinguished Service Award, Fellow, Honorary Life Membership, O.T. Zimmerman Founder’s Award, or the TCM Excellence Award; and d.) Continued service to the Association after receiving one or more of those awards.   It is the highest award AACE bestows on an individual.


O. T. Zimmerman Founder’s Award: Formerly the Award of Recognition, this award was created by the AACE International Board of Directors in 1995 to recognize exemplary current service and contribution to the Association.  Membership is required.


Outstanding Woman in Project Controls: The Outstanding Woman in Project Controls Award is selected by members of the Women in Project Controls Committee.  The award is to honor a woman who has had to overcome obstacles to pursue a career in total cost management and to recognize contributions made to her profession.


Outstanding Young Professional: The Outstanding Young Professional Award is given to a young professional – with fifteen (15) or fewer years of experience in the field of total cost management in recognition of their contributions made to the profession.


TCM Excellence Award: The TCM Excellence Award is given to members in recognition of their contributions to the practice of total cost management.  Membership is required.
