Thank you for your interest in applying for a Prime Time Scholarship. To be considered for a Prime Time Scholarship, please fill in the information on this application as completely and accurately as possible.

 

If you are not able to complete the application, you have the option to save and resume your application at a later time. Your application will not be processed until it has been fully completed.

Scholarship Details

Who is eligible for a Prime Time scholarship?

 

Management and frontline practitioners working 10 or more hours per week with school-age children in a Palm Beach County afterschool program.

 

What do Prime Time scholarships cover?


Youth Development non-credit and credit coursework:

  • An afterschool practitioner is eligible to receive a maximum of six scholarships per fiscal year* for college non-credit classes and six scholarships per fiscal year* for credit classes. 
  • Scholarship awards given to applicants taking college classes will cover the full tuition amount for the approved class, as well as the full cost of textbooks for the class.
  • Prime Time scholarships do not cover out-of-state tuition.


Youth Development conferences, workshops, seminars, and events

  • An organization is eligible to send one afterschool practitioner to a conference or event per fiscal year.
  • An afterschool practitioner is eligible to receive a maximum of one scholarship per fiscal year* to attend a conference or event.
  •  Scholarship awards for conferences and events will pay the registration fee for the approved event. The maximum award for in-state events is $350.00 and the maximum award for out-of-state events is $450.00.  
(*) For conference and events Prime Time's fiscal year begins October 1 and ends September 30 of the following year.  Palm Beach State College scholarship eligibility begins with the fall term and ends with the summer term annually.

 

Submit scholarship applications for classes at least 15 business days before the class start date. Submit scholarship applications for conferences and events at least 15 business days before the conference or event payment due date. Late applications are not considered. All scholarship applications are considered on a first come, first serve basis. However, priority funding is given to applicants who have not previously been awarded a Prime Time Scholarship. Scholarships are awarded based on funding availability.

Scholarship Information


Prime Time Scholarships cover youth development non-credit coursework, credit coursework, conferences or events.

 

Non-Credit Coursework includes courses necessary to obtain your 40-Hour School Age Certificate, School Age Professional Certificate, Florida Staff Credential and/or Director Credential. 

 

Credit Coursework includes courses necessary to obtain your Youth Development College Credit Certificate (YDCCC), Associate in Science (AS) Degree in Human Services Youth Development and/or Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) Degree in Supervision and Management.

 

Conferences or Events includes conferences, workshops, seminars or events that are specific to the afterschool field.

Youth Development Credit Pathway Courses

Youth Development Credit Pathway Courses


Please select the classes you would like to attend. You may apply for a maximum of four scholarships for credit classes per scholarship application. 

 

You may need to update your Palm Beach State College Program Objective Code (POC) based on the certificate/degree you would like to obtain.

YDCCC

Applicants must either complete or be taking the core Youth Development College Credit Certificate (YDCCC) classes in order to receive scholarships for other YDCCC coursework. The core YDCCC classes are HUS1620 and HUS1640.


AS

Applicants must complete or be in the process of completing the Youth Development College Credit Certificate (YDCCC) before receiving scholarships for Associate in Science (AS) Degree in Human Services-Youth Development coursework.



BAS

Applicants must complete the Youth Development College Credit Certificate (YDCCC) and the Associate in Science (AS) Degree in Human Services-Youth Development before receiving scholarships for Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) Degree in Supervision and Management coursework.

If you are applying to take courses through Palm Beach State College (PBSC), you must submit your course schedule. If you are applying to take courses through the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF), you must submit your DCF invoice.

In the event I am awarded a Prime Time Professional Development Scholarship, I agree to:

·         Notify Prime Time of any changes in my work status. I understand that if I am no longer employed with my afterschool program during the time of my scholarship award, and I do not notify Prime Time, I may affect future Prime Time scholarship eligibility. 

·         Attend and complete all required coursework, conference, workshop or seminar sessions.

·         Notify Prime Time in writing within 15 business days of the event start date if I am unable to attend a conference, workshop, seminar or event for which I received a scholarship. Failure to do so may affect future Prime Time scholarship eligibility.

·         Notify Prime Time in writing if I am unable to attend a class for which I received a scholarship. I must contact the college and drop the class immediately. In addition, I must submit proof that I have dropped the class within three business days of the class start date.  I also must return my books within the drop/add period or I will forfeit future Prime Time scholarship benefits, and I will be liable for said book fees.  Failure to do so may affect future Prime Time scholarship eligibility.

·         Submit proof of completion within 10 business days after the event end date.  For classes, proof of completion is my unofficial student transcript and a copy of my DCF transcript, if applicable.  In addition, if I have completed the Foundations of Advancing Youth Development course I will submit the certificate I received upon completion of the course.  For conferences and events, proof of completion is a copy of my certificate of attendance with the presenters' signature.  Failure to submit scholarship follow-up information may affect future Prime Time scholarship eligibility.

I acknowledge that Prime Time Palm Beach County, Inc. will store my demographic and educational information in a secure database and that Prime Time conforms to the regulations of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) for maintaining and protecting students' records, as outlined in the Scholarship Handbook.
