Criteria and Application Information

Purpose

The purpose of the International Conference Grant is for selected coaches to gather information and disseminate information to other Swim Alberta coaches.

 

Criteria

  • The minimum certification required is NCCP Level 1: Fundamentals Coach Certified or equivalent.
  • Be a coach member in good standing with Swim Alberta (the Alberta Coaches Council), Canadian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Associations and Swimming Canada.
  • Currently coaching with a Swim Alberta registered club.

Eligibility

  • Coaches will be selected based on the merits of the applications received.
  • Annually two identified coaches will be provided a grant of up to $3000 for conference registration and travel expenses, any value in addition will be the responsibility club or individual.  
  • The international conference will be identified by Swim Alberta.

The Application Process

The following process will be followed so the Swim Alberta can deal with applications in a fair, equitable and efficient manner.

  • Applications must be submitted online.
  • The deadline to apply will be April 30.
  • Swim Alberta will review and select all applicants.
  • Decisions on applications will be made by May 31. 

Documents Required

  • Cover Letter - A cover letter outlining coaching goals and a rational for selection.
  • Club President / Head Coach Support Letter - A letter from the club president or head coach supporting the coach to attend the conference.

Reporting and Commitment to the Program

Coaches attending the International Conference agree to attend all meetings as required by the provincial coach during the conference and submit a report to Swim Alberta.  Coaches will also present information learned at the Swim Alberta Conference or other identified coach information session.


Please Note:

  • A condition of accepting funding is that the coaches club must be a participant in the provincial program and must have a representative from their club attend the Swim Alberta Conference on an annual basis.

(a)        If I have submitted any false statements or concealed a relevant or significant fact as both constitute misrepresentation.

(b)        If I do not comply with any request for information required by the Swim Alberta to effectively administer and maintain the integrity of the program.

3.         I will represent Swim Alberta in a positive manner, and publicly declare support we receive through Swim Alberta.

4.         I have read, understand and agree to abide by the terms and conditions governing the grant outlined above and accept sole responsibility for the expenditure of the grant funds.

5.         The person responsible for the proposed project is the Applicant.
