Applicant Details
Overseas Applicants:
As a close connection to Australia is a requirement for AUSIT membership, overseas applicants need to explain their connection to Australia. Overseas applicants also need to select a branch and explain their reasons for selecting that branch:
Your resumé is an integral part of your membership application. You should particularly ensure that you include any employment / experience that is directly relevant to T/I practice, as this is an important part of the criteria that are assessed for admission to AUSIT, and may affect the membership category to which you are admitted.

NAATI Accreditation/Recognition
NAATI certification is not a prerequisite for membership in AUSIT. NAATI-equivalent qualifications are acceptable.
Note: NAATI certification, for the purpose of this application form, includes the traditional NAATI accreditation and recognition.
AUSIT will verify your NAATI certifications and add your NAATI certified language pairs to your AUSIT record. You do not need to provide your NAATI language pairs in this application form.

Do not enter a NAATI number if:
  • you have never held NAATI certification, OR
  • you have applied for it but have not yet been tested/processed, OR
  • you have been tested but not passed.

  • practicum components built into the T/I coursework at a TAFE or university;
  • work as a translator and/or interpreter since gaining NAATI certification or since graduating from a T/I course at a TAFE or university; and/or
