Partner Database Questions

The following section will deal on how to customize Partner Databases for your EDS profile. There are two main categories of Partner Databases: English Resources and Multilingual Resources.

An "English Resource" is a Partner Database where the majority, if not all, records in a given database are in the English language.

A "Multilingual Resource" is a Partner Databases where the majority, if not all, records are in a language other than the English language. There is a portion of English content usually stored in these types of databases.

Both of these categories include three subcategories: Open Access, Subscription-Based, and Partner Catalogs & Indexes. Each of these subcategories will be defined later on in this form.

New Partner Database Content

EBSCOadmin allows administrators to enable new content, subscriptions, or product offering additions automatically for your profiles.

By default, we do not automatically enable this content, so that our customers may customize the content that gets added to profiles. For example, if you have subject-specific EBSCO Discovery Service profiles leaving this setting at the default “No” will allow you to selectively assign new products to the appropriate profiles.

Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) Integration

Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) integration is now available for Blackboard, Canvas, Desire2Learn, Moodle, and Schoology. LTI is an education technology standard developed by the IMS Global Learning Consortium. It specifies a method for a learning system to invoke and to communicate with external systems. In LTI, a user is authenticated by a Learning Management System (LMS) or Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and then can be passed to another system (e.g., EBSCOhost/EDS) by way of a signed launch message.
