CalFresh Application Assistance 101 Training

The CalFresh 101 training was developed for staff new to the program but is often a helpful refresher for staff to remain up to date with ongoing local, state, and federal program changes. Before COVID, this three-hour training was offered in person. Due to the pandemic, the CalFresh 101 training is now being offered online as two separate parts.

  • A complete outline of eligibility guidelines and the application process

  • Key considerations for serving hard to reach populations, including seniors, homeless, college students and immigrants

Upcoming CalFresh Application Assistance 101 Part 2 Trainings:

  • Overview on maintaining benefits and reporting requirements
  • Guidance on how to provide strong client advocacy and follow up support
  • While open to the public, this training will be most useful for staff who regularly submit CalFresh applications and provide case management.

Important Information for Non-Subcontracting Partners:

The San Diego Hunger Coalition is happy to provide free training and technical assistance to community based organizations interested in assisting San Diego County residents apply for maintain CalFresh benefits. As part of our work, we are asking all non-subcontracting partners to complete a CalFresh Data Sharing Agreement with us. If you are unsure if your organization has already completed this form or you have any questions, feel free to contact Devin at devin@sdhunger.org. 

Hint: Subcontractors should select "Yes. If you're not sure, select "Maybe" and SDHC staff will follow up with you directly if we need the agreement.
