Recognition of Prior Learning

A prerequisite for attending the Diploma in Child Protection Studies course is to have successfully completed a Child Matters’ level 3 Child Protection Studies Programme.  However, if you have not completed this programme but can evidence  comparable child protection knowledge , understanding and/or experience you can become  eligible to attend the Diploma in Child Protection Studies. 


If you have not attended the Child Protection Programme, there are three options to choose from to evidence your ability to meet the prerequisite.


These are:

1. Evidence of Child Protection Knowledge  or

2. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)  or

3. Recognition of Current Competence (RCC)

NZQA Credits
Students who successfully meet all the requirements of the Diploma in Child Protection Studies will automatically receive credit for the following Unit Standards:


Demonstrate Knowledge of the requirements for child protection procedures in the workplace.
Number of credits : 2
Level: 3

If you are not already registered, Child Matters will register you and record these Unit Standards on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) for you if you meet the requirements of the Diploma.
