About the Fund

What is Fourteen?

Fourteen is a programme funded by Spirit of 2012, a charity set up by the Big Lottery Fund to connect events to communities across the country; tackling disadvantage by supporting opportunities in sport, physical activity, culture and the arts, volunteering and social action. Forever Manchester is managing the Fourteen programme in Manchester, where it will support the community of Harpurhey and Moston. As part of this work we are delivering a range of activity, which includes FM Awards.

The Aims of Fourteen in Harpurhey and Moston

The programme will seek to increase participation in the community through social action and volunteering. Fourteen also seeks to increase inclusion, particularly for young people and people with disabilties.

Outcomes

All funded activity should seek to contribute to at least one of the following Fourteen outcomes:

  • Improve perceptions towards disability and impairment; understanding 'disability' as an individual with a physical or mental impairment that impacts on their ability to carry out daily activities.
  • Improve individual wellbeing, understanding wellbeing as "feeling good and functioning well".
  • Overcoming isolation through providing opportunities for individuals to participate and volunteer; to feel valued in their community; and, to ensure all role models are celebrated.
  • Connecting Communities through providing opportunities for individuals to engage and actively contribute in their community, ensuring people are proud of the place they live and are confident in making friends.
How much can you apply for?

FM Awards are for applications of up to £1,000.

Here at Forever Manchester, we recognise that great things happen in and around Greater Manchester on a daily basis and we want to shout about it! The idea behind this application is to provide a positive, friendly and accessible approach to gaining much needed financial support for your group.

Applicant organisations should have an annual income of under £150,000.

Is there anything we can’t apply for?

Unfortunately, there are a few things that can’t be funded, such as activities that have already taken place or been paid for, contributions to major appeals, activities promoting political or religious beliefs and activity which should be provided by statutory services.

If you’re not sure if we could consider you application for funding, please contact a member of the Forever Manchester Communities Team and we’ll be happy to help, 0161 214 0940 or email awards@forevermanchester.com

Please note that due to administrative processes that we must undertake, once submitted it may take up to three months to hear an outcome for your application. As such, please make sure the project is due to start no earlier than three months at the time of applying.

About Your Organisation

Approach answering this question as though you were talking to a friend about what you do.

What type of organisation are you?  (Please select as many as appropriate).

You do not need to be a registered charity or company limited by guarantee to apply, but we do need to know more about the “status” of your organisation. If you are a sub-group, committee of a larger group or a local branch of a national charity, we can only fund you if you can demonstrate that you operate independently. This usually means you have separate rules & regulations, an independent committee, a separate bank account and are responsible for generating your own income.

Staffing and Volunteers
How many of each of the following are involved in your group?
