About FM Awards £1k - £5k

FM Awards £1k - £5k is a new funding programme from Forever Manchester. It aims to support those groups who have already received funding from us, but who can develop their projects or organisation further with more support.

In particular, the Fund will prioritise those applications which can evidence how funding will help an organisation to provide longer term benefits in the community, such as involving and developing local volunteers and sharing skills, knowledge and experience with others.

Who can apply?

FM Awards £1k - £5k is currently an invite-only programme. Only groups who have already received funding from Forever Manchester and who have successfully completed their feedback, will be invited to apply. Groups can only submit an application within six months of receiving the application invite via their feedback complete notification. Applications received after this time cannot be considered.

Please do not circulate the application link to others, as we will be unable to accept applications from groups who have not been sent the information directly by Forever Manchester.

How Much Funding is Available

Awards of between £1,001 and £5,000 are available.

We do not expect that the majority of awards made will be for the maximum £5,000 and would encourage you to apply for a sum which reflects what you need to make a significant difference. Applications which evidence partnership working and volunteer involvement to reduce overall costs will be welcomed.

Completing the Application

Please answer all questions in full, telling us the great things you do and how much more you could do with a bit more money. Although you have had an award from us already, don’t assume we know everything about your group and work. Things may have changed since you last applied, so make sure we are up to date.

You need to let us know how receiving an FM £1k - £5k Award would help you to develop or expand your activity, or strengthen your organisation for the future.

We are particularly keen to hear how you work within your community with others, how volunteers are involved in your group and how you might share your experience and knowledge to support other community groups in your local area. If you need any help in answering any of the questions, please contact a member of the Communities Team on 0161 214 0940.

Next Steps

Once your application has been received, we will contact you to arrange a mutually convenient time when one of our Communities Team can call you to discuss your application further. This is not an in depth interview, just an opportunity for you to tell us things you couldn’t get in to your application and explain your passion for what you do. It will also give us the opportunity to ask you any questions we may have to clarify what you have told us.

Your application and any additional information you have told us will then be presented to the next panel and you will be informed of their decision.

Please note, there is a limited amount of funding available. Forever Manchester reserves the right to close the Fund at any time if we are oversubscribed or funds have been exhausted.

If you have any questions please contact a member of the Communities Team on 0161 214 0940 or email us

Please note that due to administrative processes that we must undertake, once submitted it may take up to three months to hear an outcome for your application. As such, please make sure the project is due to start no earlier than three months at the time of applying.

About Your Organisation

Approach answering this question as though you were talking to a friend about what you do.

What type of organisation are you?  (Please select as many as appropriate).

You do not need to be a registered charity or company limited by guarantee to apply, but we do need to know more about the “status” of your organisation. If you are a sub-group, committee of a larger group or a local branch of a national charity, we can only fund you if you can demonstrate that you operate independently. This usually means you have separate rules & regulations, an independent committee, a separate bank account and are responsible for generating your own income.

Staffing and Volunteers
How many of each of the following are involved in your group?

About Your Project

Does your project have an overall project name, if so please enter it here.

Please provide the postcode where most of your beneficiaries reside, if there are multiple places please just pick one. If it is too difficult to distinguish please provide the postcode of your organisation.

We realise that you cannot give exact figures but please estimate as accurately as possible. This information is important and will be used to evaluate the project at the end of the grant period.

E.g. who has got involved and which other groups and services have you connected with?

Volunteers and Beneficiaries

Why did they get involved and what do they get from coming to your group? Please provide us with a personal quote from the person you have chosen to write about.
