Application & Guidelines for Funding

Institutions with print specialists on staff are invited to apply for funds to support an internship within one year of the award date. IFPDA Foundation Curatorial Internship Grants are awarded in the amount of $3500 per curatorial department to provide interns with a print-based learning experience under the guidance of experienced prints and drawings specialists. Interns may be engaged to work with the permanent collection or to assist with a loan exhibition with a focus on prints, printmaking, or drawings. Past grantees remain eligible to apply.
  • Institutions are selected based on their ability to provide an object-based learning experience under the guidance of one or more experienced prints and/or drawings specialists who are on staff or on contract.
  • Institutions may submit one application per curatorial department if more than one department has a print specialist on staff.
  • The breadth of the permanent collection and/or that of the loan exhibition will be considered, as well as the scope and depth of any specific projects assigned to the intern.
  • Recipients implement their own internship program, including the selection and supervision of the intern in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, with a required schedule of two or more days per week.
  • At the conclusion of the internship, the institution and the intern are asked to provide an impact statement.
