Coach Application - Future Coach Program 

General Information

Coaches will be selected by application only.


Deadline to apply is February 22 2019.


Applications received will be selected by the Swim Alberta Executive Director, the Swim Alberta Sport Development Director and the Swim Alberta Technical Coordinator.

A total of fourteen (14) coaches will be accepted to the Future Coach Program.

Program Fee

The cost of the Future Coaches Program is $200 for all three workshops.  Coaches who successfully complete the program will be refunded the program fee.


Coaches must be fully registered and compliant with Swim Alberta and be currently working with a year round affiliated program.



NCCP Certification is required, priority will be given to coaches with a higher level of certification.

Applications will be considered based on the number of spaces available.


Full attendance in all sessions is required to complete the program.

A letter of support from the Club President is required with the application.  Support, both financial and time, must be provided by the club.

A written capstone is mandatory and due to Jackie Cool, Sport Development Director, within two weeks of each weekend.

Future Coach Workshop Dates & Content

Proposed Schedule:

The program will be offered over the following three weekends in 2019, as detailed in the schedule below:

  • Saturday, March 9 & Sunday, March 10
  • Saturday, March 23 & Sunday, March 24
  • Saturday, July 13 & Sunday, July 14

 *topics and presenters may change depending on availability and interest of the group.

Cost of Program:
  • *The cost of the program is $200 / coach for all three weekends.
  • Coaches travelling from out of town can stay at the Coast Edmonton Plaza Hotel at the current Swim Alberta rate.
  • All travel and accommodations are at the cost of attending coaches.

* Upon successful completion of the full program, Swim Alberta will reimburse participants the cost of the program.

  • Full attendance in all sessions is required to participate and complete the program.
  • A letter of support from the Club President is required with the application and support both financial and time must be provided by the Club.
  • A written capstone is mandatory and due to Jackie Cool, Sport Development Director within a 2 week deadline after each weekend.
Program Overview:

This program is a opportunity for Head Coaches and Coaches to learn and improve upon professional skills that will aid them in being better coaches in the future.  These coaches will have the opportunity to be considered for future Swim Alberta tours or Games opportunities that are not based on athlete selection criteria.
