So you want to do a Fringe Show. . .
We're here to help make that possible - whether this is your first time producing a show or if this is what you've been doing for years.  If you've never done it before, we have all sorts of help to offer, and if you know what you're doing, we'll stand back and watch you go!
Applying to Fringe

It's very simple: just read this info (even if you've done Fringe before, there are always changes!) and then fill out this online application. You don't even have to know what show you want to do yet. Submit this form and application fee no later than 12:00pm Central Standard Time on Sunday, March 15, 2017. We do not accept late applications!

Please read all information thoroughly before you apply. The guidelines and application are your contract with the KC Fringe.

The Basics:  Time & Money

KC Fringe 2017 runs Thursday, July 20 through Sunday, July 30. Screenings will run at various times throughout the entire festival's duration, as well as at least one day during July 17-20 for a mandatory run-through to verify that your film will play on that venue's equipment.

Production fees for 4 screenings of a 60 minute film is $100.

Production fees are due by March 15, 2017.

You will receive 60% of your gross box office receipts (less any outstanding debts to Fringe, of course).

What You Get:   

Fringe is the best deal in town for producers.

1. An environment that facilitates an independent creative process and the opportunity to perform for an audience that is eager and willing to support new performances and creations.

2. The schedule of your screenings listed in the printed Fringe program guide and on the Fringe website along with your show description and photo or logo.

3. One, run-through in the venue the week prior to the festival so you can verify that your film will run on that venue's equipment.

4. At least one technician.

5. Full box office service including online and on-ground advance and day-of ticket sales.

6. At least one box office staff and one front of house/usher staff.

7. Publicity for the festival as a whole.

8. Marketing support.

9. Festival artist discounts including special ad rates in the program guide, button breaks, video and photography coverage, and comp tickets.

10. 60% of the box office receipts to be paid by Monday August 15, 2017.

11. The Fringe Producers' Handbook—your comprehensive guide to producing and marketing your show.

12. You may offer merchandise sales in the lobby if arranged in advance, but no distribution of food or alcohol will be permitted.

What you'll do as a Producer to make your show a success:
1. Show time slots are 60 minutes.  ou can not go over 60 minutes or under 45 minutes. Please see the fee schedule below.

2. Secure the rights for your film.

3. Submit an application form and the application fee. 

4. Submit all Fringe materials on time.

5. Ensure your film is a playable format.

6. Provide a box office liaison to work with our box office volunteers.

7. Promote your film. We promote the festival, and you are responsible for promoting your show.  The Fringe Producers' Handbook will help you with ideas and resources.

10. Be responsible for all your personal expenses and collecting your film after the festival.

11. Be fully prepared for your scheduled technical rehearsal. 

12. Show up on time for screenings.

The KC Fringe is unjuried and uncensored. Performance times are filled on a first come, first served basis.  The first 75 fully paid applicants (Film and Performance) are guaranteed performances or screenings in the 2017 festival. Any remaining fully paid applications will be put on a waiting list in the order received.  We reserve the right to refuse any application. 

Signed Agreement:
This application will be considered a legal agreement between you and the KC Fringe Festival. Application fees will be processed upon receipt. Companies may withdraw from the festival with a full refund before May 1, 2017. Cancellations are accepted only from the primary contact, and only in writing. Companies that withdraw after May 1, 2017, forfeit their application fee. All performing companies agree to adhere to the laws of Missouri, the ordinances of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, and the policies and procedures of the KC Fringe Festival, stated within this document. The KC Fringe Festival reserves the right to cancel any performances of companies or artists not adhering to this agreement. All performers must individually sign a waiver of liability form and provide a signed copy to the Fringe office no later than July 17, 2017.
