Welcome, applicant! 

IDEABOOST and We Are Wearables proudly present Canadian Female Founders Hardware Cup - a showcase and celebration of Canadian female founders of growth-oriented startups building hardware and wearable products for the Canadian media and entertainment industry.


Six female founder semi-finalists will be invited to pitch and demo at WWTO’s Women and Wearables event on March 28, MaRS (101 College St, Toronto), which focuses on raising awareness, driving conversation and creating a more diverse wearable and hardware tech space. One Canadian finalist will be chosen by the jury to pitch and attend the International Hardware Cup on April 19 - 20, 2017 (Pittsburgh).

International Hardware Cup grand prize includes:
  • $50,000 USD convertible-debt investment (StartBot VC)

  • Exhibit booth at COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2017 - the world's leading ICT/IoT trade show and global startup platform - includes airfare to Taiwan, 5 nights of accommodations (TAITRA)

  • Free, customized membership at Ascender coworking space & startup incubator

  • Services required to establish a U.S. subsidiary, including filing fees (Cohen & Grisby)


KEY DATES:

  • March 22 - Mar 24: Notifications sent to 6 x Canadian Hardware Cup semi-finalists for March 28 Toronto “Women & Wearables” event

  • Tuesday, March 28: 6 x Canadian Hardware Cup semi-finalists pitch & demo; 1 x Canadian finalist selected

  • April 19 - 20: Canadian finalist pitches at International Hardware Cup in Pittsburgh


GUIDELINES:

  • Product must be past ideation stage (eg. working prototype, beta version)

  • Your hardware or wearable product must have an media and entertainment use-case (applicable to gaming, VR, broadcasters, entertainment brands, etc)  

  • Founding team includes female Founder

  • Co-productions and joint ventures between Canadian and non-Canadian companies are also eligible, provided that the Canadian team member is the one who submits the application

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

  • At the end of the form, you will be asked to attach your Articles of Incorporation or Letters Patent and will be encouraged to attach an up-to-date deck (eg. investor/pitch) - acceptable file types include: PDF, Powerpoint & Keynote - please limit files to 15MB

  • You may save your application before submitting. In-progress information is stored up to 10 days only. Incomplete applications will not be considered
