8/26/17 Recycling Attendant 1st Shift,  "In for 10" Voting Rights Festival

Saturday, August 26

Shift Time: Noon - 5:30 PM

English Landing Park
8701 McAfee St.
Parkville, MO 64152

Event Info:

In for 10 (areyouinfor10.com) is a one-day festival sponsored by Northland Progress intended to mobilize attendees to support voting rights and fair elections. There will be speakers, music by local bands, comedy, food and beer. The festival opens to the public at noon, and our goal is that none of the waste produced at the event goes to the landfill (zero waste-to-landfill)!

Volunteer Role:
Bridging The Gap volunteers will educate attendees about recycling and composting by attending to a waste management station and advising patrons which bin to deposit their waste into. Volunteers will be provided gloves and litter-grabbers to remove any material that is inadvertently put into the wrong bin. We will train you on-site.  All volunteers must be at least 21 years old.

Volunteer Perks:

All volunteers will receive an event t-shirt and a voucher for one meal and a drink (bring your ID if you want a beer!).

Volunteer Qualifications: All volunteers must
  1. Register online in advance
  2. Be able to stand/walk outdoors for 5 1/2 hours
  3. Be at least 21 yrs old, and must agree to the online waiver.

I am aware that working as a volunteer at Northland Progress' Voting Rights Festival event, for which Bridging The Gap is providing recycling services, is a potentially dangerous activity. I am in good physical condition and health, and have properly conditioned myself, and have consulted with a physician, as appropriate, regarding my participation as a volunteer. I have no physical or psychological conditions that would create risk(s) for myself or others in connection with this volunteer activity. The volunteer work I may perform will take place in a public park within natural environments including, but not limited to, a river, creek drainages, steep embankments and drop-offs, naturally vegetated areas with inherent dangers that include, but are not limited to, exposure to noxious plants such as poison ivy, snake or insect bites, cuts or traumatic injuries from broken glass, limbs of bushes or trees or other materials, falls, injuries related to uneven ground, exposed roots or loose footing, the use of tools, heavy lifting, contact with the general public, including but not limited to vehicular traffic in and about the event, and the effects of weather conditions, including high heat and/or humidity, cold, wind, snow, rain or ice.

In the event my volunteer activities take place through the use of an automobile or other vehicle, such as shuttle transportation to a worksite, or in an office or other setting I understand that there are certain additional and different risks that arise in such atmospheres and this waiver and assumption of risk is intended by me to include any and all such risks. Therefore, I expressly assume any and all risks directly or indirectly associated with working as a volunteer at this event, and accept personal responsibility for my own safety and for the safety of those with me both on the premises and in traveling to and from this event and in my dealings with the general public while working as a volunteer at this event and for any and all damages of any kind resulting from injury whatsoever. If any of the activities I may encounter appear to pose a risk that I am not comfortable with, I will refrain from engaging in such activities.

Being aware of the above facts, and in consideration of being a participant in Bridging The Gap’s Green Event, I hereby for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators or anyone else who might claim on my behalf (collectively, “Releasor”), hereby release, waive and discharge all claims against Bridging The Gap, Inc., and their representatives, successors or assigns (collectively, the “Releasees”), from and against any and all claims, costs, losses and damages (including without limitation, all attorney’s fees) (“Claims”) arising from or in connection with my participation as a Bridging The Gap volunteer, including without limitation, the negligence of the Releasees, and/or of the other volunteers, participants, spectators or other third parties. I will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Releasees from Claims arising from the undersigned’s participation as a volunteer or any breach of the undersigned hereunder. I promise that neither I nor any other Releasor will sue the Releasees and further agree that if anyone is physically injured or if property is damaged while I am engaging in, working for or otherwise participating in the Green Event, neither I nor any other Releasor will have any right to make a claim or file a lawsuit against the Releasees.

Additionally, I understand that photos may be taken during the event I am participating in, and I hereby grant Bridging The Gap, Inc. the irrevocable and unrestricted right to use and publish photographs of me, or in which I may be included, without compensation, for editorial, trade, advertising, and any other purpose and in any manner and medium; to alter the same without restriction; and to copyright the same. I hereby release Bridging The Gap from all claims and liability relating to said photographs. I understand that Bridging The Gap does not currently offer court-ordered or disciplinary community service and that Bridging The Gap staff will not sign off on documents verifying service hours for court-ordered or disciplinary service.
