If you do not fulfill all of the above criteria, you are not eligible for this Fellowship.

All applications are due by Sunday, February 18th, 2018 by 11:59pm EST. Any mailed material must be postmarked before this date. Applications submitted after this date will not be accepted.

HOPE REICHBACH FUND

Application Instructions


The Hope Reichbach Fund provides scholarships for young adults in Brooklyn participating in summer internships dedicated to public service and/or community organizing. We wish to continue Hope’s legacy of progressive values and grassroots activism by investing in a new generation of Brooklyn-based leaders. 


All applicants  can save their progress as they complete this application by creating a username and password. Please save this information in a secure place.


Be aware that there is no spell check in these forms, we recommend using an application similar to Microsoft Word to proofread your documents prior to submitting the fields.

All applicants must complete this application by February 18th, 2018 at 11:59pm EST to be considered for a 2018 Summer Fellowship.


How to apply for the Hope Reichbach Memorial Fund Scholarship

1.     Complete all questions in the following application form.


2.     Upload a copy of your resume, detailing: your educational background, student activities, honors and awards, previous work experience, and computer and language skills.


3.     Have your college bursar mail a copy of your official academic transcript to: Hope Reichbach Fund, c/o Ellen Meyers, 148 Bond St Brooklyn, NY 11217.

4.     Provide two references. They may be academic (i.e., prior/current professors) or professional (i.e., former employers). DO NOT PROVIDE LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION. In fairness to all applicants, we will not review any letters we receive.


5.     Complete and upload the main essay, 500 words or fewer, explaining why you are applying to the Hope Reichbach Fund internship program.


6.     Complete and upload the short essay, 250 words or fewer, please answer one of the following:

1.     Give us an example of a social issue you would like to see changed and how you would change it.

2.     What does “Hope for Brooklyn” mean to you?

3.     How would this internship program advance your career goals?

4.     Tell us a good, true story from your life.


7.     This program is designed to give opportunities to outstanding applicants who have demonstrable financial need but are committed to social justice work. Please provide your FAFSA worksheet or a documentation letter from your school’s office of financial aid documenting your finances.


8.     (Optional) You may describe, in 250 words or fewer, any outstanding financial circumstances that might not be apparent from your financial forms or the rest of your application.

Internship Placement Form

If selected as a 2018 Fellow, we will place you with a Brooklyn-based, non-profit matching your interests and preferences. We have a network of over 30 organizations working within the social impact sector. Please be specific about your interests so we can ensure the best possible placement. We advise researching organizations where past Fellows worked, and visiting our site to find a complete list of our partnering organizations.
