Green Medalist Nomination Form

Green Medalists are individuals or groups who have shown leadership in sustainability within their school community, inclusion by removing unfair barriers to participation and creating an equitable learning environment, and resilience through continual action despite obstacles and setbacks. Green Medalists may not have yet certified in an environmental category or participated in a Student Summit, but they are committed to making their school a healthier and greener place to learn. Please take several minutes to fill out this nomination form to the best of your ability.

The deadline for nominations is Monday, April 13, 2020. Awardees will be announced in April and will receive special recognition through the EarthGen network.

Nominee's Role

Describe the environmental action project in which the nominee participated and the impact of their participation on this project.

Leadership: Describe the actions the nominee has taken to progress the school’s environmental goals. For example, you may choose to provide details on how the nominee developed the project, led the charge, organized a group, or arranged meetings.

Inclusion: Environmental issues often unfairly and disproportionately impact communities of color, low-income people, and diverse learners. Has the nominee actively worked to combat these injustices and/or ensure their projects do not perpetuate unfair distributions of environmental benefits and burdens? For example, how has the nominee created a fair and equitable space to learn and work? Have they worked to mitigate barriers to participation in the Green Team for underrepresented populations in their school community? Have the action projects implemented addressed the concerns of those disproportionately impacted by environmental problems? Has this leader involved people of varying backgrounds, skills, and abilities on the Green Team?

Resilience: With any school project, comes challenges. When faced with obstacles or barriers, how did the nominee react? How did they push the project forward in the face of adversity. How did they grow from these experiences?
