For years we have been grateful to serve travelers from the Redding area, using the Redding Municipal Airport. However, over the years, on numerous occasions, flights from this particular airport have been delayed and/or cancelled, causing travelers to miss trips, become stranded and unable to return home as scheduled, as well as causing extra expenses for the travelers.
Additionally, most flights from Redding require a change of planes in San Francisco. Due to increasing security restrictions at all airports, and SFO in particular, we can no longer guarantee that airport security will allow our staff to go to the gate to assist the travelers in making their connections. This creates a huge safety concern. While it is true that Redding airport does have a daily direct flight to Los Angeles, it is generally too early or late in the day to coordinate with having a New Directions staff to meet the flight, also causing a safety concern.
Therefore, due to these safety concerns, we have decided to no longer arrange flights from the Redding airport but will instead encourage travelers to fly from the Sacramento airport.
We realize that this requires a lengthy drive from the Redding area and involves more time for your staff. However, we feel this is the right decision to ensure the safety of the travelers.
