Landscape Technician - Green Steward Training Program

Green Stewards is a paid training program designed to prepare individuals with skills to maintain landscape beds in spaces next to streets. These beds are stormwater control measures for water running off the street (bioswales). As a part of the crew, you will develop landscape maintenance skills to maintain these beautiful spaces within the community.

 

New hires will train for 8 months, after you complete the training you would meet the minimum skills to apply for permanent positions within KC Water, KC Parks department, or in a landscape or related industry.


Techs will learn basic landscape monitoring and maintenance including weed/plant ID, weed and pest control and driving a truck and trailer. Stewards are supported in resume building, interview preparation and continued mentorship after the completion of the training.

Applicant Qualifications:

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Be willing to work outside in all kinds of weather including high heat, cold, and rain
  • Be a resident of Kansas City, Missouri
  • Valid drivers license or ability to obtain within 6 months
