3/10/18 Buckeye Creek Watershed - I-35 & Chouteau in KCMO Litter Cleanup

Saturday, March 10th
9:30 AM to 12:00 PM

Did you know that most litter is not collected and taken to the landfill?

Unfortunately, rainfall will carry litter from parking lots and streets into storm drains. Then, storm drains dump untreated and unfiltered water directly into area creeks, streams, and rivers. In other words, if it's on the ground, it's in our water! That’s why we need your help to clean up litter along Buckeye Creek near I-35 & Chouteau Trafficway in Kansas City, Missouri!

At the workday, we'll share some information about this watershed, have a short training, and clean up litter along the banks of Buckeye Creek. All volunteers will receive a snazzy "volunteer" t-shirt or reusable plastic water bottle! We will provide litter grabbers, safety vests, trash bags and gloves.

Meeting Location:

North side of McDonald's parking lot

4400 NE Chouteau Trafficway

Kansas City, MO 64117

Volunteer Qualifications

All volunteers must:

  1. Register online in advance (we require advance registration so we can be sure to have enough staff and supplies present at the clean-up).
  2. Be at least 11 years of age with a supervising adult, or at least 16 to volunteer alone.
  3. Agree to electronic liability waiver.
  4. If you are with a group, please enter it in the Group You are Volunteering With field below.  Contact us to ensure we have enough space for your team.

Please bring a re-usable water bottle filled with water that you can carry with you. Sturdy, closed-toe shoes and long pants are a must. We recommend long sleeves to protect against poison ivy.  Muck or rain boots are also highly recommended if you have them! Consider a hat, sunscreen and bug spray.

After submitting registration, you will receive an auto-email with additional information.
