The GWSPH Undergraduate Declaration Page is a portal for current GWSPH students who are ready to declare or update a major, minor, or concentration. Before you begin, please be sure you have reviewed our website and all relevant policies here: Declaring a Major, Minor, or Concentration.

Eligibility
  • To declare a GWSPH major, minor, or concentration, you must complete your first semester at GW and receive all of your final grades for the term.
  • A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required for all GWSPH majors and minors.
Students are individually responsible for ensuring that they meet all the requirements of their newly declared program(s). In the event that a student must make an adjustment to their approved Four-Year Plan, the student should consult with their advisor(s) to discuss how said adjustment may impact their long-term plan.

Students declaring an external program will maintain both their GWSPH advising team as well as their departmental advisor for their new program. Students should keep in contact with both advisors. Students are strongly advised to connect with their advisors at least once per semester.

Declaration Checklist

By proceeding, you confirm the following:
  • You have reviewed the Program Guide for your intended major, minor, or concentration. For non-GWSPH programs, you have obtained any required departmental approval from the school offering the program.
  • You have created an up-to-date Four-Year Plan and carefully reviewed it to ensure all core requirements and prerequisite coursework has been planned and correctly sequenced. You will be prompted to upload a current Four-Year Plan with a viable course progression. Incomplete or non-viable plans may delay approval.
For external program declaration, students will also be prompted to submit their signed declaration form indicating departmental approval.

Processing Timeline

Declarations are processed on the last business day of each month. Declarations are not processed during the months of November and April due to registration blackout periods. To ensure access to priority registration, please submit all declaration materials 2-3 weeks before the month in which registration begins.

Interested in Internally Transferring to GWSPH?
Students considering an internal transfer should review the Internal Transfer Guide on our website. Newly admitted internal transfer students are strongly encouraged to declare their GWSPH major during their first semester in the school. Delaying declaration may affect priority registration and timely degree completion.
