Students on Ice is excited to announce the launch of our Winter 2019 Microgrants! Youth alumni aged 14-30 from Inuit Nunangat, Northwest Territories and Yukon are invited to apply to for a Microgrant of up to $5000 for a community impact project!
What is a Microgrant, you ask? SOI's Microgrants - formally known as Inspiration Grants - provide seed funding for alumni-led initiatives worldwide. This funding enables youth to take the inspiration and knowledge from their expedition experience, and give back both locally and globally. Founded in 2014 by alumni Tarek Sherif and Sophie Nicholson who were inspired by their experiences on SOI expeditions and by the skills, abilities, vision and enthusiasm of all participants, the SOI Microgrant program is today supported by numerous Government of Canada departments and philanthropists from around the world.
Have an idea and interested in applying? A Microgrants Guide has been created to help you through the process. This guide will help you understand how to apply for a grant, what is required of you as an applicant, and what to expect if you are chosen to receive funding. You will also find an Expression of Interest Template in the guide. Please read this guide carefully before applying. View and download the Microgrants Guide here.
If you plan to apply for a Microgrant, please be sure to submit your
EXPRESSION OF INTEREST on the next page by WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 13, 2019.
