Drafting Motions to Reopen Immigration Court Proceedings

View the training online anytime. You will be emailed the training link within 1 business day of registering.

Viewers of this Maryland Immigrant Legal Assistance Project (MILAP) training will leave with the ability to draft motions on behalf of the litigating lawyers to help immigrants reopen their court proceedings, focusing on asylum seekers in the state.

This training is limited to volunteers who have already accepted a pro bono case from a MILAP partner and have a need to do a motion to reopen to complete their commitment.

Federal government employees must obtain prior written authorization from their agency before participating, as many federal attorney roles are considered conflicted with immigration legal services.

Staff of nonprofit legal services providers can attend or view any PBRC training without a pro bono commitment, as long as they register using their work email.
