Hospitals in Massachusetts have obligations to provide a community benefit to their surrounding communities. Recent regulation updates by the Department of Public Health and the Office of the Attorney General outline how hospitals can most strategically invest in communities to address community needs.
The training will provide an overview of the revised Attorney General's Hospital Community Benefits Guidelines and the updated Determination of Need/Community Health Initiative regulations and guidance, a framework for analysis of hospital Community Health Needs Assessments, and a basic review of hospital finance structure. The training will also allow time for participants to build strategy skills and practice tools to better engage with the community and hospital staff.
The intended audience for this training are members of hospital committees responsible for advising the hospital on Community Benefits and community needs. Individuals may represent a community-based organization or a specific community or issue. The training is intended for committee members who are not hospital staff.
