Introduction

The 10,000 Degrees Professional and Technical Training Scholarship supports students with significant financial need who are attending vocational programs leading to a license or certificate between July 2019 to June 2020.

Please read the eligibility requirements carefully to determine if you qualify.

1) Marin resident or Marin High school graduate
2) Attending a vocational program at an accredited or state-approved training institution or a program leading to a license or certificate in 2018-19
3) Have a GED/high school diploma or be 18 years of age


If eligible, you are required to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before applying for any 10,000 Degrees scholarships.  The FAFSA is found at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  You will need the information provided by the FAFSA on this application. 

If you are not eligible to file the FAFSA, you must fill out the California Dream Act Application if eligible.  The California Dream Act Application is available online at www.caldreamact.org  

In addition, please have your and your parents financial information ready (2017 or 2018 tax return, W-2s, etc.). 

All applications must be received by July 31, 2019 at 11:59 pm.  No late submissions will be considered for funding.

Introduction

The 10,000 Degrees Scholarships for Teachers Application supports students enrolling in a teaching credential program and/or an early childhood degree program with the intent to pursue a career with children zero to five-year old (prior to kindergarten).  Scholarships generously supported by Marin Retired Teachers Scholarship Fund and Building Better Teacher Scholarship Fund.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 
The Marin Retired Teacher’s Association Scholarship Fund
 was established by several Marin County retired teachers to assist Marin County residents who are pursuing post-secondary education.  A committee representing these teachers wished to provide scholarships benefiting Marin County High School graduates who are pursuing their Fifth Year Teaching Credentials (or Masters in Education).

Eligibility:
  • Graduate from a Marin county high school
  • Pursuing their Fifth Year Teaching Credentials (or Masters in Education)
  • Minimum college GPA of 2.0
The Building Better Teachers Scholarship was established to help improve teaching and leadership in ECE (early care and education) programs that serve children during the years prior to entering kindergarten (birth to five years).  This scholarship supports ECE teachers as they continue their college coursework in early development and education to earn a BA degree and beyond.

Eligibility:
  • Must have lived in the Bay Area for at least one year.
  • Enrolled in an early childhood degree program intending to pursue a career with children zero to five-years old (prior to kindergarten). Students may be attending a Bachelors degree program or Masters degree program or community college courses related to early childhood education with plans to transferring to a four-year college to complete a bachelors degree.
  • Part time enrollment OK.
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA while attending college.
  • Students who are low to moderate income are encouraged to apply.

The 10,000 Degrees San Francisco & St. Francis Yacht Club Scholarships supports students who are current employees or children of current employees who work at either the San Francisco or St. Francis Yacht Club.


Requirements:

  • Eligible applicants include current employees and their children.

  • Applicants must be employed for at least one year, at a minimum of 20 hours per week.

  • Available for undergraduate coursework, professional/technical training, or certificate training programs.

Building Better Teachers Scholarship                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           To apply for this scholarship you must:                                                                                          1) be pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education                                                                  2) be interested in a career working with children ages 0-5.                                                                                                                                                                                                                          In addition to the questions below, you must submit the following:                                                                                                                                                                                                            1)  Unofficial transcript(s): Please provide unofficial transcript(s) reflecting all college experience.
