• What is the Future Relations Project?
Session E and Session 5 will be dedicated to creating work for exhibition in Future Relations: A Resource for Radical Teaching Presents FTP.
Curated by 2019 SOMArts Curatorial Residency recipients Fred Alvarado, Thomas Jones, and David Petrelli, Future Relations centers on lesson plans, artworks, and actions from artists, teachers, and activists exploring creative practices that teach towards the eradication of oppressive environments.
The final work will be installed on Saturday, November 7, and the exhibition will be on display at SOMArts from November 15 - December 21st. The Urban Youth Art project will be completed collaboratively by the Tuesday and Saturday students. Saturday, September 28th and Tuesday September 24th will be the last class days dedicated to the Future Relations project.
• The Day of the Dead Project
Session F and most of Session 6 will be dedicated to creating work for the Día de los Muertos exhibition at Brava Theater Center.
Tuesday students enrolled in Session F will start the project on the first day of class. Saturday students enrolled in Session 6 will complete work on the Future Relations project on September 28th, then begin work on the Día de los Muertos project on Saturday, October 5th.
