The 2019 Brave New Voices Youth Poetry Slam Festival Application

(Competing and Non-Competing Teams)

Applications for the 2019 Brave New Voices are now open! This is your chance to bring a team of young people to the 22nd annual international youth poetry slam in Las Vegas, Nevada, July 17-20th, 2019.

Please note that those applying to participate in Brave New Voices should be a group.

  • Competing Team: these teams will represent their cities and compete in the poetry slam
  • Non-competing Team: these teams are groups that want to attend BNV but not compete in the poetry slam. Please be sure to identify yourself as a non-competing team in your application.
  • Individuals: If you are an individual and would like to attend, you do not need to register. The public schedule will be released closer to the festival, and many events are free and open to the public.

Applications must be received no later than April 26th, 2019. If accepted, teams will be informed by April 29th, 2019. Once you are accepted, you will be given a link to register, where you will enter information about your team members as well as pay a registration fee. These registration fees are partially subsidized by Youth Speaks, and determined by your organizational size. SUBMITTING THIS FORM DOES NOT GUARANTEE PARTICIPATION IN THE SLAM. Determinations are made for purposes of geographic diversity.

Fees for competing teams range from $2,000 - $3,000 and cover up to 7 participants. Please note that a team of 7 MUST include 2 adults, however, if you would like to bring more people, you may do so at a rate of $500 per person. Non-competing teams pay $500 per person and may bring up to 5 people.
