Nth Dimensions provides an array of services to students in the medical education and training pipeline from undergraduate through post residency, NDSI is one way in which Nth Dimensions lives out its ongoing mission to increase the number of women and Underrepresented Minorities  (URMs) in various specialties of medicine.

As of 2019 the NDSI is comprised of four (4) programs: Dermatology Internship Program (DSI), Orthopaedic Summer Internship program (OSI), Physical Therapy Internship program (PTSI), and Radiology Summer Internship program (RSI). Below is a description of each program.

  • Dermatology Summer Internship Program (DSI) - this program launched in 2019 through a partnership with Howard University College of Medicine. DSI exposes medical students to the specialty of dermatology and equips students to be competitive applicants to dermatology residency programs.
  • Orthopaedic Summer Internship Program (OSI) - this Nth Dimensions flagship program, in partnership with Zimmer Biomet, exposes medical students to the specialty of orthopaedic surgery and equips students to be competitive applicants to orthopaedic surgery residency programs. Selected participants are matched to spend 8 weeks with a preceptor (practicing orthopaedic surgeon) at one of Nth Dimension’s partner institutions nationwide.
  • Physical Therapy Internship Program (PTSI) - this program launched in 2016. PTSI is open to undergraduate students with an interest in Physical Therapy. Selected participants are paired with practicing physical therapists for 8 weeks during the summer. Participants are also exposed to the field of orthopaedics through the OSI program given the unique relationship between orthopaedic surgeons and physical therapists  in the workforce.
  • Radiology Summer Internship Program (RSI) - this program provides an opportunity for medical school students  to explore the field of radiology. RSI exposes medical students to the specialty of radiology  and equips students to be competitive applicants to radiology residency programs.

Medical Student Symposium (MSS) Professional Development programs educate the student on the non-clinical aspects of medicine, such as CV building, interviewing skills, sub-internship performance and research, that he or she will need to master in order to be  comprehensively prepared and a competitive applicant in their field of choice. This is accomplished through on-going professional development sessions with Academic chairs, program directors and resident faculty, which take place at specialty meetings and conferences.

Nth Dimensions provides housing grants for students to attend the Student Symposium held at the annual meeting of the specialty’s academy. Academic chairs, program directors, faculty, summer internship preceptors and residents educate students in non-clinical and essential content areas necessary to become competitive residency applicants.
