About the IPTP
The IPTP is a collaboration between Carolina Small Business Development Fund (CSBDF), Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU) and the City of Charlotte. (CoC).  CSBDF is a statewide nonprofit and Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) which provides small business loans and financial training to start-ups and existing businesses along with policy research that supports small businesses.  Since 1990, CSBDF has offered services to create economic opportunities for small businesses and their entrepreneurs throughout the North Carolina.  CSBDF's primary activities include small business lending, business services (technical assistance), expanded outreach programs and policy research.

In conjunction with the City of Charlotte (CoC) and in partnership with Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU), CSBDF  is offering a six-week entrepreneurial training program that focuses on preparing and equipping firms located in the Mecklenburg county market to engage with and participate in procurement opportunities with the CoC.  The training program will take place on JCSU's campus and will engage underserved small businesses in alignment with the City's small business capacity building initiative.  The program's content was developed to specifically address procurement representation challenges identified by the CoC.

Participants of this program will (1) have a well-defined pathway to participating in procurement opportunities, (2) understand the financial mechanics of their business and the importance of right sized capital, (3) be able to bid on contracts and respond to RFPs without sacrificing jobs and profit, (4) expand their personal networks equipping them to pursue collaborative opportunities, and (5) confidently deliver a polished capability statement to active General Contractors in their operating market(s).
