*Volunteers must provide their own transportation to Rochester.* Prerequisites for sled hockey volunteers: - Ability to skate is preferred (this requires skaters to maintain balance and control, and perform quick starts and stops. On-ice positions are assigned at the discretion of our staff to manage safety and meet the needs of the group. We do have off-ice positions available. - Hockey background/knowledge and coaching experience is a plus - Skates are required for on-ice help, gloves and helmet helpful (but we can provide) This position provides: - Opportunity to interact with a wide range of sled hockey players from first-timers to Paralympic gold medalists. Volunteers will learn about the sport and help get athletes ready to hit the ice. Volunteers will help make practices run more smoothly and will have a lot of fun with our diverse group! Job responsibilities: - On-ice PUSHERS (stand up skater pushing players who are not able to propel themselves) - Assist with loading and unloading of equipment - Assist with fitting athletes with equipment and sleds as needed - Assist with on-ice practices to ensure drills and activities run smoothly - Ability and willingness to participate as a player by suiting up and getting into a sled
