Organisation:
Restraint Reduction Lead:
Date:
Priority 1:
We are transferring from a paper based system to electronic recording (the PASS system, developed by everyLIFE Technology Ltd). This will facilitate more efficient and comprehensive gathering of both quantitative and qualitative data, as well as enable closer and more responsive monitoring of behaviour incidents and use of restrictive practices.
Measure of Success:
* Paper based recording will have been replaced with PASS. * Behaviour incident data will be readily available and easy to access, providing greater ability to identify behavioural antecedents and topography. In turn, this will contribute to more effective, evidence based PBS plans. This will also serve to evidence behavioural progress and effectiveness of behavioural interventions, e.g. reduced use of physical intervention/restrictive practice.
Priority 2:
Complete the Reducing Restrictive Practices Checklist within our organisation and review our current policies relating to use of restrictive interventions, to ensure compliance with the Restraint Reduction Network’s six core strategies. The Restrictive Practice Assessment Tool and Restriction Reduction Plans we have developed will begin being utilised and put in place for all existing service users (not just new service users), with regular review and progress assessment scheduled.
Measure of Success:
Our policies relating to use of restrictive practice will be updated and maintained in line with the RRN's six core strategies. Restriction Reduction Plans will be in place for all of our service users, with evidence of strategy implementation and progress across iterative drafts, as we work toward reducing use of restrictive practice.
Priority 3:
Improving service user quality of life. A Quality of Life assessment tool will be introduced and completed for all of our service users. This will provide baseline data regarding 9 different domains measured. Those domains with the lowest scores will direct the identification and prioritisation of SMART outcomes and goals for improving quality of life for each individual service user.
Measure of Success:
Evidence of the Quality of Life tool being completed with progress reflected in changing scores. Linking with this, there will be evidence of outcomes being achieved or worked toward within our electronic recording system. These should correlate, with improvements in Quality of Life score being observed following a period of successful achievement of SMART outcomes.
