Priority 1:
To continue to ensure that the care and support we provide is proactive, person centred and promotes new learning and experience. This means as an organisation we will continue to follow all the pricinciples of PRO-ACT SCIP uk and ensure that the leadership of the organisation pass on the Alderwood philosophy to all staff to ensure that individuals live in a safe, caring and supportive environment which promotes a culture where restraint is not the focus.
Measure of Success:
To expand the current team of Pro-Act Scip instructors within Alderwood. Currently we have 7 instructors, our expectation is to add new instructors to the existing team and also make a current instructor a Principle Pro-Act Scip instructor.
Priority 2:
The recruitment and retention of staff is vitally important. We are currently living through a global health pandemic which has meant the care sector has attracted individuals which previously worked in other sectors. The main prioirty is to ensure that all staff who are recruited to work for Alderwood are supported and mentored by expericenced staff, and that staff continue to be offered a high degree of training to enalbe them to manage behaviours of concern and feel supported. As an organisation it is vitally important to train and retain new staff in order for them to become part of Alderwoods postive culture.
Measure of Success:
To ensure that we retain newly recruited staff during the current Covid-19 pandemic. That we train new Pro-Act Scip instructors and have a principle instructor working in the organisation to deliver a postive culture throughout the organisation.
Priority 3:
To ensure that the leadership within Alderwood continues to reflect on its practice to enable the organistion to grow and develop moving forward. This means investing in our staff, providing staff with additional training where needed. And promoting a culture of physical intervention free care.
Measure of Success:
We plan on introducing a debrief tool for the people we support. This will hopefully help support people after a period of anxiety or where they have displayed challenging behaviour. This will have to be developed in line with a persons understanding and communicated in a way they will understand.
