Restraint Reduction Lead:
Date:
Priority 1:
A learning and development review will be carried out to identify the current strengths which will then inform a programme of accredited training. There will be input from the community of practice group which includes people we support, staff and the project team. This training will be rolled out across the organisation.
Measure of Success:
A comprehensive delivery of a learning and development programme which provides a greater understanding and is accredited to the reduction of restrictive practices underpinned by a trauma informed, rights based and strengths-based approach by mid-2021. All levels of the organisation can demonstrate the application of this learning in the context of reducing and preventing restrictive practices through the delivery of support to the people we support and staff members by 2022.
Priority 2:
To strengthen the current reporting tool to record all types of restrictive behaviour (not just physical and chemical) within our services with an aim to increase the awareness, monitor application of practices and reduce any use of restrictive practices over the next two years.
Measure of Success:
A greater identification and understanding of restrictive practices through the reporting tool ensuring less incidents reported of restrictive practices year by year. A quarterly organisational practice forum to review the incidents and debriefings to capture and shape the learning and development programme and organisation resources, the findings will be reported to the Quality Performance Committee.
Priority 3:
Create an organisational resource that is informed by a co-designed and co-produced community of practice to allow the organisation to continually learn and evolve through sharing good practice in preventing and reducing restrictive practice
Measure of Success:
An available toolkit accessible for all that promotes personal behaviour support and celebrates best practice in the reduction and prevention of restrictive practice accessible to all parts of the organisation by mid-2021.
