Restraint Reduction Lead:
Date:
Priority 1:
We want to reduce Physical intervention as much as possible. We have very little in our home currently and we want this to continue. We will work with our young people to produce very detailed and accurate support plans that work for our young people. We focus our plans on preventative measures, so we can help our young people manage there behaviour and emotions so they can help regulate them selves, reducing our physical interventions or incidents within our home. This helps build up better relationships between the young people and staff and helps have a more positive atmosphere around the home and enable our young people to feel settled and happy within placement, this is where we get the most effective work done with our young people.
Measure of Success:
We measure this success by the number of psychical interventions that we have to do with our young people. The amount of incidents that we have within the home and how settled our young people are. We look at the smart targets that we set and see if we are meeting these targets. If we are not meeting these targets we look into why and then can put actions into place to support our young person to work towards there targets. Our main measure of success is to see how settled our young people are in placement, if they are happy and moving froward in there plan and reaching that self actualization.
Priority 2:
We have a good reporting system and our paperwork makes data analyse quiet simple. We will continue to document and monitor all incidents and behaviours . We have a central file so this makes it easy to get all the information you need in a timely manor. However we do need to put a system in place where we have clear data of " near misses" where there has been incidents where physical intervention hasn't being used, but has being close. We can then analyse what was done at this point which worked well so we can ensure this is in the behaviour management plan.
Measure of Success:
An Additional section within our central file to document successful deescalation and defusing that resulted in a restraint being avoided. A noticeable decrease in incidents and escalating behaviour, due to near misses been documented so the actions can be added into there behaviour management plan.
Priority 3:
To ensure that our management team continue to grow and learn, both deputies are completing there level 5 management qualification and will take over more managerial responsibilities as the time goes on. The team will have a strong management presence to support them within their role. We will then work within the team to promote staff to give them more responsibility and leadership.
Measure of Success:
Both deputies will have there level 5 qualification in management and leadership, this will then help them complete more managerial roles within the company. Internally we will work to promote staff, so we will have a Team leaders to manage the shift and give more support to the support staff. The team will feel supported and managed well to reach there full potential and ensure that the young people are supported the best they can, following there support plans. Staff turn over should be low and staff should be completed or enrolled in there level 3 qualification.
