Priority 1:
Encourage genuine person centred care planning and risk assessments to keep what is important to the person as paramount in all risk management and care planning decisions. Ensure services know how to evidence this person centred process, and offer and promote restrictive practice and care planning auditing tools. We willEnhance person centred care planning and person centred risk management training with reference to RRN standards. Continue promoting service auditing and improvement tools which will be reviewed and amended in the light of feedback, and new training needs analysis, in the light of performance data for services in this area.
Measure of Success:
Performance data and incident levels ( from local commissioners) show reduction especially for the services for which training and auditing tools have been provided.
Priority 2:
As a sole trader training company I do not provide direct services with clients. My continuous professional development includes reading up to date relevant documents- including from RRN , CQC, as well as attending training and conferences etc. Training is continuously reviewed in the light of feedback from participants, and with commissioners and practitioners. This informs my own learning, reflection and enables me to respond to feedback as well as incorporating practice examples. I will keep professional development updated with courses and literature in best practices, the changing legal framework, and RRN.
Measure of Success:
Feedback from DOLS Team, Accredited local positive behaviour support team, training quality assurors, and commissioners: in addition to services and attendees who receive training:will confirm that training is meeting current needs. Any identified gaps will be addressed in subsequent training.
Priority 3:
Offer tools and procedures to services through delivering training in Dignity in Care, Person Centred Care Planning, Person Centred Risk and restrictive practice training. Continue emphasis on RRN principles throughout training and the need for robust person centred care planning and risk assessment processes. We will further enhance person centred care planning and person centred risk management training with reference to RRN standards. Continue promoting service auditing and improvement tools .
Measure of Success:
Quality assurance Performance data and incident levels ( from local commissioners, CQC and internal service auditing procedures) show reduction of restrictive practices and safeguarding incidents where restrictions have been misused- especially for the services for which training and auditing tools have been provided. Quality assurors including the CQC report that staff understanding of the need for person centred planning and reducing restrictions is understood in local services which have received our training. Staff assessments, feedback froms and and manager feedback confirms that training has enhanced understanding of RRN person centred principles.
