Planned Action:
I will continue to contribute towards social, ethical and physical environments that promote safe, human rights based clinical practices by championing best practice guidance, reducing restrictive interventions and the Restraint Reduction Network training standards in the courses I facilitate, my clinical visits/practice and all advisories I provide. I will put those receiving care at the heart of decision-making; it is only through empathy, introspection and combining expertise, in partnership, that we can build services where health, wellbeing and best opportunities can flourish and the most vulnerable in our society are valued and respected.
Measure of Success:
I am leading a project that is exploring methods to measure the efficacy of restrictive interventions training. This involves testing a range of approaches to analyse and interpret the qualitative and quantitative data generated by the organisation I work for so that it can be harnessed to support a quality improvement approach. From 2020-2025 I will be starting an ethnographic study to shine a light on people's experiences in secondary mental health settings; the experiences of both those receiving care and those providing it. I intend to share all findings through peer reviewed publication and openly with the Restraint Reduction Network and the Positive and Safe Network communities.
This pledge is private.
