2020 Bay Area Host Family Application

Application Requirements

In order to apply for a Host Family position with the Youth Ambassador Program, you must meet the following minimum requirements:

Have a home located in the Greater Bay Area.

Be able to host a Uruguayan or Paraguayan Youth Ambassador or Adult Mentor from January 25th to February 4th.

Be able to provide a bed and 3 meals a day for the Youth Ambassador or Adult Mentor.

Be able to provide daily transportation to and from a BART Station OR directly to our Training Center located in Oakland. **Please note that Participants CANNOT travel on any type of public transportation (Muni, BART, etc.) by themselves. Carpooling is encouraged among families in similar neighborhoods.

Be able to pick up your Youth Ambassador during the afternoon of Saturday, January 25th at the HI San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf Hostel (Fort Mason).

Be able to drop off your Youth Ambassador the morning of Tuesday, February 4th at the Oakland Airport.

Be willing to involve the Youth Ambassador or Adult Mentor in normal family activities on weekday evenings and on weekends.

All host families must be able to attend the required Host Family Orientation: Saturday, January 11th from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm at the Temescal Branch of the Oakland Library (5205 Telegraph ave.)

Be willing to submit information for a criminal background check for all family members in the home over the age of 18.
