Community Cornerstones, a program of the Nonprofit Sustainability Initiative (NSI), provides financial assistance for San Francisco nonprofits that are relocating or expanding into commercial space within new, 100% affordable housing developments.  Grants are available to mitigate the high costs of new construction.  

  • Before completing this application, please read the "Program Guidelines" document at www.communityvisionca.org/sfsustainability for program eligibility requirements.

  • Financial assistance may be used for tenant improvements. Up to $2 million is available for distribution in this round.

  • Fully executed letter of intent with lease terms or fully executed lease is required to apply.

  • Applications must be received by noon (12pm Pacific) on Tuesday February 4th, 2020 to be considered for Financial Assistance awards.  Applications submitted after noon (12pm Pacific) on Tuesday February 4th, 2020 or deemed incomplete will not be accepted and the application will be shut down.  

  • Community Vision encourages applicants to submit their applications before the February 4th deadline so that any technical problems that arise can be resolved before the deadline.

  • The target date for award notification is March 26, 2020.

Request for Financial Assistance
Organizations with a fully executed letter of intent (LOI) or lease terms of 5-10 years may receive a financial assistance grant up to $350,000. Organizations with a letter of intent or leases for 10 or more years may apply for grants up to $500,000.  Grant proceeds will support tenant improvements.
