You’re invited to the release event for Kids Today, a report that details decades of population trends that left Boston with fewer children — and the implications of that on enrollment across Boston’s public schools. This work was produced by Boston Indicators in partnership with the Boston Foundation’s Education to Career Strategy.

Boston has experienced an especially sharp decline in middle-income families with kids, with many moving out to Boston’s suburbs. Over the same timeframe, students of color and low-income students have become increasingly segregated in Boston schools. This is troubling in light of the large and growing body of evidence that students who attend diverse schools have better academic, social, behavioral and economic outcomes.

This release event will provide an opportunity to learn more about these trends and to engage in conversation about how we as a city (and region) might better address the resulting challenges.
