This year, we're branding each month with a different cleanup topic to inspire events in your community. Monthly additions will include webinars, blog posts and resources related to the focus area of the month.
Starting in 2020, March will be designated as Waterways Cleanup Month with a kick-off event the first Saturday in March called the Great Texas River Cleanup. Any waterway cleanup conducted during the month of March will still count towards participation. Waterways cleanups have the additional supply option of onion bags, which are mesh and allow water to escape and the trash to remain in the bag.
April will remain focused on our Texas signature event, Don’t mess with Texas® Trash-Off. Trash-Off focuses on roadside litter cleanup and is sponsored by our friends at TxDOT. The program supports efforts to clear Texas roadsides of trash and includes cleanups taking place any day in April.
May will wrap up our Spring cleaning efforts with Parks and Trails Month. We invite everyone to host an event focused on beautification of our public spaces. To find a state, county or city park or trail in your area, contact your local government.
These focus areas are meant to inspire. They are not required and any event or project conducted from March 1—May 31, regardless of the focus, will be counted towards the Great American Cleanup and eligible for free supplies.
