APPLICATION

LMCC’s Internship program provides meaningful opportunities for individuals interested in the arts and culture sector, from the perspective of a leading non-profit organization in New York City. LMCC connects you to a robust network of professional connections and gives you the hands-on experience you need or a curious professional looking to make a career transition, our 20-person staff is ready to share their experience with you.


LMCC’s Internship program offers year-long and summer/winter internship opportunities for interns to gain an in-depth experience at the organization. Interns choose an internship focus to pursue under the guidance of a staff member, while gaining exposure to all departments in our collaborative-minded office.


During the program, all interns receive a monthly participation honorarium of $100, along with a monthly travel stipend of $150 and monthly meal stipend of $100. Interns also have access to a professional development reimbursement fund of up $150 throughout their internship. All internships are structured at 20 - 24 hours per week, including supporting our evening and weekend events. The start/end dates of the program are flexible and should be agreed upon between the intern and their supervisor prior to the start of the internship.



Internship Focuses: Based on your internship focus, you will be paired with a staff member at LMCC to contribute your knowledge, apply your skills, and deepen your interests and find new ones too.

Internship Focus Descriptions:


PUBLIC PROGRAMS: RIVER TO RIVER FESTIVAL



Ideal for those interested in project management, production, event programming

 

PUBLIC PROGRAMS: RIVER TO RIVER FESTIVAL interns participate in the planning and execution of LMCC's Public Engagement Initiatives including its Annual Gala, the River To River Festival and production of other performance based work at the Arts Center at Governors Island and elsewhere.

 

 Interns will work mostly in the office supporting the research and planning of the upcoming public season, including research, updating planning documents including budgets and schedules, preparing and tracking finance requests, and assisting with the preparation of permits and contracts. As LMCC’s public season begins, the intern will play an integral role in the day-to-day administrative operations of the Festival and will also provide on-site support at events – both at indoor and outdoor locations.

 

The internship consists of both administrative desk work and on the ground logistical support as well as attendance at evening or weekend events. The internship provides opportunities to attend internal planning meetings and site visits. Ideal candidates should be familiar with the different aspects of the production of dance, theater, and music events and be interested in the administrative aspects of producing these live events in non-traditional locations. Candidates should have exceptional organizational skills, strong administrative skills, a keen attention to detail, a collaborative spirit, and a friendly, yet professional attitude when representing LMCC through interactions with both audiences and artists.

 


 

PUBLIC PROGRAMS: ARTS CENTER GOVERNORS ISLAND


Ideal for those interested in exhibition and public programming, curation and project management.

 

PUBLIC PROGRAMS: ARTS CENTER GOVERNORS ISLAND interns participate in the planning and execution of LMCC's exhibition and public programming initiatives at the Arts Center at Governors Island.

 

In advance of the public season at the Arts Center at Governors Islands, Interns will work mostly in the LMCC offices in Lower Manhattan supporting the research and planning of the upcoming public season, including curatorial research, collation of information, updating planning documents including budgets and schedules, preparing and tracking finance requests, managing the digital filing of documents and assisting with the preparation of contracts. They will also assist in production logistics, and be on hand to help where needed during the installation period. As LMCC’s public season begins, the intern will play an integral role in the day-to-day administrative operations of the Arts Center exhibitions and public programming and will also provide on-site support at special events.

 

The internship consists of administrative desk work, on the ground logistical support, as well as attendance at evening or weekend events. The internship provides opportunities to attend internal planning meetings, site visits and interaction with artists. Candidates should have exceptional organizational skills, written and verbal skills, administrative skills, a keen attention to detail, a collaborative spirit, and a friendly, yet professional attitude when representing LMCC through interactions with both audiences and artists.
