Walk
With Sally’s mission is to provide support to children whose parents or
siblings have cancer. Through our
mentoring program we hope to provide these children with the immediate support
they need when dealing with the trauma that cancer can often cause. As these children grow into young adults, it
is our hope that through our programs, Walk With Sally can instill a sense of
leadership and community engagement.
Through our Fred’s Fund - Young Leaders Scholarship, we aim to provide
these young adults with the opportunity to thrive as leaders in their community
by giving them financial assistance to continue their education.
Criteria:
· Walk With Sally Mentoring Program participant.
·
Successful
completion/graduation from high school.
·
Involvement
in a community organization. (Young Leaders Club stratifies this
requirement)
·
Enrollment
in post high school continuing education including four-year university, two-year
university, trade school, teach school or community college.

This
is a one time scholarship of up to a $1,500 disbursement to be used on educational
expenses for first year students. Consideration for a second distribution after
the 3rd year of education for the final/graduation year of education
in a 4 year institution will be considered on a case by case basis. This
includes: tuition, textbooks, room and board, etc. This award will be distributed directly to
the institution.
o Receipt must provide organization with copy of expense
that money is being used towards.
o Distribution will be determined on a case-by-case basis
(taking into consideration the post-secondary institution, and other financial
aid opportunities)
