safety and well-being of NYC’s children and families, with an emphasis on youth

COVID-19 EMERGENCY
FUND
The New Yorkers For Children COVID-19 Emergency Fund is
set up to help youth who have aged out of NYC foster care receive financial
support due to financial hardship from COVID-19. Eligible candidates must be
Aged-out of the foster care system in New York City and not attending school .
The Fund assists youth who encounter an unforeseen or unusual financial
emergency due to COVID-19. Requests must be urgent in nature.
This
fund was created to assist youth who have aged out of foster care in NYC, not
enrolled in school, are 18-26 years old and facing a financial emergency due
to:
•
COVID crisis
New
Yorkers For Children will generally fulfill requests to cover:
•
overdue rent or emergency housing assistance
•
overdue utility bills
•
medical and dental bills for uninsured necessary
procedures
•
transportation
•
books and school supplies
•
support for groceries and food
•
cleaning supplies
•
technology support for remote work and learning
•
Other items at the discretion of the committee
New
Yorkers For Children will generally not fund requests for:
•
legal representation in criminal or civil
proceeding
•
youth who have been compensated through another
NYFC Fund (for COVID related emergencies)
ELIGIBILITY
REQUIREMENTS
To
be eligible to apply for the Emergency Fund, you must:
•
Be Aged-out of New York City foster care, ages
18-26 years old
•
Not be currently enrolled in college or an accredited vocational program
•
Provide brief description of what funds will
cover.
