Job Description
Position Summary:

The Communications Director is a shared position between Washington Environmental Council (WEC) and Washington Conservation Voters (WCV). The core responsibility of the Communications Director is to advance both organizations’ missions and strengthen our brands by using a strategic mix of communications channels, tactics, and tools. The Communications Director works with the CEO, Senior Management Team (SMT), and program staff to develop and implement long-term communications goals and project-specific communications plans.

The Communications Director oversees a team of three communications staff to raise the profile of the organizations, build the number of contacts we reach, and communicate with people in ways that motivate them to help advance the work of WEC and WCV. The Communications Director works with the development team to ensure our outreach to donors is strong and on message; with our field team to build the universe of people we are able to reach and engage; and with program, government affairs, and political staff to ensure our messages, materials, and media coverage support our long-term goals. The Communications Director reports to the CEO and is a member of the SMT.

Compensation and Salary:

This is a full time, exempt position with a salary range of $75k - $85k depending on experience. We also offer a generous benefits package including medical and dental insurance, 401k plan and organizational match of up to 3% of your annual salary, a flexible spending account, paid vacation and sick leave, ten paid holidays per year, an unlimited ORCA transit pass, and if you work for seven consecutive years you are eligible for a two-month paid sabbatical.
